Perhaps, it has occurred to you to start an Instagram travel blog but you have no idea where to start or what to do. Well, you’re in luck!
We’ve put together a comprehensive how-to guide to help you start your own Instagram travel blog to showcase your love for travel and photography and hopefully, earn money along the way through partnerships and sponsorships.
Create your Instagram account.
Download the Instagram app and create your Instagram account. Pick a username that resonates best with the concept you have in mind or use your full name or initials to create a professional effect. You should also follow travel accounts in your niche market using relevant hashtags.
Connect your Facebook page.
Connect your newly-created account to your travel Facebook page. Create one if you haven’t done so already. You’re not obligated to use the Facebook page but connecting it to your Instagram page will convert it into a business page which will allow you to view your insights and track your visitors.
Add a memorable Instagram bio.
In a few sentences, tell your audience who you are and what your page is about. Make it short and memorable; and don’t forget to let your personality shine through. The good bio is what will cause someone to click on a post to see your content; and hopefully convert them into followers.
Build an audience organically.
To get followers, go to other travel accounts with a huge following and follow their followers. You can also visit their last posts and follow those who showed interest in their content by liking. Another method, outside of interacting, is to use the travel hashtags to follow those who are positing travel related content.
Pick your filter.
Choose a filter that will bring out the quality in your photos, bring uniformity to your page, and give you an overall clean look. You can try the popular built in Instagram filters— Clarendon, Gingham, Juno, Lark, and Valencia; or download filter apps like VSCO, Snapseed, Afterlight 2, and Enlight.
Use relevant hashtags.
Instagram allows a limit of 30 hashtags per post. You don’t have to use all of them; rather, select 10 relevant and popular hashtags: #travel, #adventure, #wanderlust, #lovetotravel,
#travelmore, #travelblog, #travelblogger, #goexplore, #solotravel, and #travelblogging.
Create your content.
Decide what you want to share. Whether it’s photos from your personal travel (use watermarks), photos from the internet (cite sources), or from Instagram (tag sources). To create a unique content, I would suggest to create your own content using your own resources and creativity.
Interact with your circle, post regularly, respond to comments, ask for shout-outs, or if you can afford it, pay for promotions or ads. Connect your website if you have one; and make good use of your Instagram story and highlights. Most important tip of all, enjoy your blog because if you love it, your audience will love it as well.
