Horseback riding in Mykonos, Greece is a dream; like a scene out of a romance novel. It’s breathtaking, romantic, scenic, eventful, and beautiful, all in one package. As for things to do in Mykonos, this activity takes the cake! (did I mention I love horses?)
As a horse lover myself, and a beach bum at heart, this tour was everything I could wish for in an experience. However, if you’ve never ridden a horse before, have no fear. The guides at Horseland in Mykonos, Greece were incredibly helpful and made the experience extremely relaxing and enjoyable for myself and everyone that participated.
Riding horses through the Mykonos beaches is the most unique experience that you could do whilst taking in the beauty of the island. On the evening that I went, the sky was cotton candy pink/blue, with a beautiful sunset on the horizon. The wind was low and the temperature was perfect. Out of a dream to say the least…
In terms of the humanity itself, which I can understand it being a cause for concern for some, the horses are well-cared for and loved by all staff. In fact, I learned during the tour that most of the horses are rescue animals.
The head instructor is an animal lover himself and ensures that all horses are properly trained, well looked after, and healthy. To be honest, the horses during my tour seemed to have enjoyed the walk just as much as I enjoyed the ride.
All in all, I would highly recommend this tour. While many activities in Greece are leisurely and based around food and beverage, this tour is unique. It’s one of few activities that encompass an adventurous nature to it, so if that sounds like you, id book it immediately!
While I personally took part in the romantic evening picnic ride, you can also book packages that involve a professional horseback photoshoot, horse and carriage marriage for those engaged, and day tours as well.
