In short, when abroad your body is exposed to local strains of bacteria, that more often than not are new to the body. And they may cause some gut disturbances. Considering that I have celiac (an allergy to gluten) my gut is irritable at the best of times. I guess what I’m saying is if you want to maintain a healthy gut and ensure optimum natural immunity, you should seriously consider taking some form of probiotic while travelling. For me, prevention is always better than cure.
